Meadows of Englewood - 15th Anniversary edition

Ant's collaborative release with Guillermo Cazenave has just been re-issued as a 15th Anniversary edition which combines the original CD release with a DVD of The Meadows of Englewood video.  

The album was recorded at Ant's studio in 1995 and includes co-written pieces alongside solo pieces by both Ant and Guillermo.  The Meadows of Englewood video, which was taped in Barcelona in May 1997 and released on VHS the following year, features mimed performances of four tracks from the album.

Private Parts & Pieces XI: City of Dreams City of Dreams

A brand new album release from Ant which is the eleventh in the Private Parts & Pieces series.

City of Dreams takes the listener through a number of moods ranging from the epic to the reflective via atmospheric soundscapes to create a rich and ultimately rewarding journey for the imagination.  On several of the tracks the emphasis is on mood and atmosphere, whilst other pieces reflect a sense of the activity in a busy urban environment.  Ant’s effortless ability to create a series of beguiling and inventive musical landscapes is highlighted throughout the album.

Tarka

Ant and Harry Williamson's collaborative release Tarka has been out-of-print for a while but a new pressing of the album is now available.

This is just a re-pressing of the album to make it available again - it has not been re-mastered and no extra tracks have been added to it.

Archive Collection Volume 2

Originally released in 2004, this double CD release features previously unreleased pieces and variations recorded between 1971 and 1988.

Seventh Heaven 

Seventh Heaven - a double album of orchestral and acoustic portraits from Ant and composer & arranger Andrew Skeet - is out now.

Featured soloists on the album include singers Lucy Crowe and Belinda Sykes, guitarist John Parricelli, cellist Chris Worsey, percussionist Paul Clarvis and sax & woodwind player Martin Robertson, who has contributed to a number of Ant's previous album releases.

Private Parts & Pieces 3 & 4

Antiques & A Catch At The Tables

The re-release of the Private Parts & Pieces albums in the double CD format is completed with the  re-issue of the third and fourth albums in the series - Antiques and A Catch At The Tables.  Both albums have been re-mastered by Simon Heyworth and both include extra tracks, including previously unheard tracks newly mixed from the original multi-track tapes.  The complete track-listing for both albums can be seen here.

Originally released in 1982, Antiques is a collection of guitar ensembles and duets which was written and recorded by Ant in collaboration with Argentinean guitarist Enrique Berro Garcia.

A Catch At The Tables was originally released in 1984 and features instrumental pieces (together with a song) that Ant wrote and recorded between 1979 and 1982.

Having been out-of-print for some time, Ant's 1990 release Slow Dance is now available again.

Field Day

Field Day

Ant's 2005 double CD release of acoustic pieces is now available again.

Field Day is a collection of pieces based around acoustic stringed instruments in both solo and duet form.  As well as 6-string and 12-string guitar pieces, Ant has also composed and recorded new pieces for the album on charanga, English bazouki and cittern.

Missing Links Volumes I - III

A triple CD re-issue of the first three albums in the Missing Links series - Finger Painting, The Sky Road and Time & Tide - at a special price.  All three albums now have new artwork.

The Missing Links series was begun as a way to fill in some of the gaps in Ant's commercially released musical output and allow fans the opportunity to hear some of his Library and Television music.  The series began in 1989 with the release of the first volume Finger Painting (initially made available as a limited edition cassette release) which featured selections from various projects that Ant had written and recorded over the previous ten years.  A second volume - The Sky Road - followed in 1994, featuring a further selection of Library and Television pieces alongside previously unreleased album pieces and archive tracks.  The third volume - Time & Tide - was released in 1997 and brought together for the first time on a commercial release the best of Ant's collaborative work with Joji Hirota, much of which has been featured on award-winning programmes in the long-running Survival series. 

NB: None of the albums have been re-mastered for this re-issue.

Battle of the Birds & Gypsy Suite

A double CD re-issue of two more titles from Ant's back catalogue.  Originally released in 1995, Gypsy Suite is a 1978 recording of a four-part suite for two guitars inspired by Ant and Harry's explorations of different tunings.  The Gypsy Suite CD also includes the demos of the first two movements of Tarka.

Originally released in 2004, Battle of the Birds is an expanded edition of a 1981 Mother Gong release, which makes use of the 1978 recording of Gypsy Suite as the backing music for Gilli Smyth's narration of the story of the Battle of the Birds, with Harry and friends contributing some spoken parts as characters in the story.  Ant's contribution to this title is confined to his co-writing and playing on the recording of Gypsy Suite, which is of course available in it's original form on the Gypsy Suite CD.

Sail The World

Originally released in 1994, Sail The World features the music that Ant wrote and recorded to accompany the television coverage of the 1993-94 Whitbread Round The World Yacht Race.  The album has been newly re-mastered by Simon Heyworth for this re-issue.

Following the original release of the album, most of the tracks were subsequently re-mixed for use as library pieces and this re-issue includes the re-mixed versions.  The re-issue also includes three extra tracks not included on the original release as well as brand new artwork and sleeve notes to make this the definitive edition of Sail The World.  More information about the re-issue can be seen here

Ahead of the Field

The first commercial release of Ahead of the Field which was an album of library music that Ant was commissioned to compose by music publishers De Wolfe in late 1984.  Ant composed a number of tracks for the album and scored a selection of them which were then recorded by some top session musicians (under the name X-Cess) in the spring of 1985, with the emphasis being placed on then-contemporary electronic drum and synthesiser sounds.  Ant subsequently overdubbed some extra parts on the tracks which were then issued by De Wolfe as a vinyl album for use by broadcasters and film-makers on their Rouge Music label.

Ahead of the Field is primarily a showcase of Ant as a composer rather than a performer. More information about Ahead of the Field, including the track-listing, can be seen here.

Sides

A double CD re-issue of Ant's 1979 album release.  The album itself has been newly re-mastered from the original master tapes by Simon Heyworth and includes the non-album track Souvenir as an extra track on the first CD.  

The second CD contains variations and alternate mixes of the songs from the album including some unique new mixes which have been made from the original multi-track masters especially for this release.  Also included is the edited single version of Um & Aargh which has not previously been available on CD.  The complete track listing can be seen on a new page here.

Wildlife

Wildlife

Between 1994 and 2000, Ant and Joji Hirota collaborated on a number of outstanding soundtracks for wildlife television programmes in the award-winning Survival series.  In addition, Anthony also wrote and recorded the music for a programme in the BBC series The Natural World.

A 2 CD re-issue of Ant's sixth solo album, which includes the original album newly re-mastered from the original tapes by Simon Heyworth and an extra CD that includes new mixes from the original 8-track masters which allow parts of the album to be heard for the first time in their original basic form.  

Also released for the first time on the extra CD are some of Ant's original music for the ATV Series Rule Britannia which was recorded at the same time as the album, the previously unheard keyboard piece Ascension (which was re-discovered on the original multi-track tapes during the research for this re-issue and has been mixed for the first time) and the 16-minute demo version of Poly Piece - a track originally written for inclusion on Sides and then considered by Ant as a possible track for 1984 in the formative stages of the album.

The re-issue features new liner notes with contributions from recording engineer Chris David and the writer and presenter of Rule Britannia Dr James Bellini together with Ant's own memories of the album.

A 2 CD re-issue of Ant's second solo album, which includes the original album newly re-mastered from the original tapes by Simon Heyworth and an extra CD which includes no less than 64 minutes of variations, demos and alternate versions of the songs from the album.  The extra tracks feature some unique new mixes which have been made from the original multi-track masters especially for this release together with the edited single version of We're All As We Lie which has not previously been available on CD.

The re-issue includes new sleeve notes with a detailed account of the recording of the album and memories and anecdotes from Ant, Rupert Hine and John G. Perry.

The Geese & The Ghost

The Geese & The Ghost

A 2 CD re-issue of Ant's debut solo album, which includes the original album newly re-mastered from the original tapes by Simon Heyworth.  The previously unreleased Lutes Chorus Reprise section of Henry has been restored to it's correct place on the original album whilst the extra CD contains variations and demos of the original tracks plus the planned single version of Silver Song recorded by Ant with Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins in 1973.  

The re-issue also includes new sleeve notes with a detailed account of the recording of the album together with memories and anecdotes from Ant, Peter Cross, John Hackett and Simon Heyworth.  Rosanna Arquette also shares her memories of one of her favourite tracks on the album.
